This year has already started and the rap game hasn't been so alive with female MC's since, well I don't know when. We have seen almost a decade run of supremacy from our auntie Nicki Minaj, but the start of 2018 has been almost secured by the new comer and easily the next big thing known as Cardi B. Personally I fell in love with Cardi's persona. She has that personality that makes a person want to fall in love with her. She comes from humble beginnings, at a strip club, and now has taken the world on. Home girl has went pass the newcomer range of being a one hit wonder. Cardi has now broke two different records within a matter of months. First for her hit Bodack Yellow, and now she has three songs in the TOP 10 at the same time. A feet only accomplished by the Beatles and Ashanti (yes, I was surprised about the Ashanti entry myself so I had to do my own research before I put her name alongside the Beatles). Cardi is now a certified SUPER star. We can't help but to love this girl. Her mere presence is getting the attention of all the heavy hitters in the music industry. She has songs coming out with Bruno Mars, The Weekend, 2Chainz, and social media is hinting at a mash up between her and the legend down as Beyonce. Cardi B has to come out with an album which I'm sure will be an Atlantic Record masterpiece. The value of Cardi B has seemly multiplied and tripled by the day, as her charting success and lyrical carelessness keep ringing on the radio and through streaming services. Her brand of free-hood-fun seems to be a great marketing tool for her. I hope that Cardi is here for a long time. I personally check her twitter account on a daily basis.
Sooner or later we are going to have to get a full LP, where she will receive harsh criticism. There is no way around it for the newcomer. She has gained a lot of success pretty early and pretty fast. She will constantly be compared to Nicki Minaj, because every female rapper is, since Nicki wears the crown and all others are possible contenders. Cardi B is staying in her own lane, and she is creating music that really resonates with her base.
Hopefully the LP's title will be something catchy since that's clearly what's she's about.
